Marian Village Landscaping Project Leads to Eagle Scout Designation for Joliet Boy Scout

Homer Glen - Bryan Boylan of Troop 15 in Joliet recently became an Eagle Scout thanks in part to his work on a landscaping project at Marian Village, a senior living community in Homer Glen.

The project included tearing up the original landscaping, expanding the flowerbed, adding mulch and planting a variety of perennials near Marian Village’s Our Lady of Mount Carmel statue.

“Bryan and his team of volunteers worked very hard to make the project a success,” said Daniel Bannon, executive director at Marian Village. “The new landscaping does a nice job of highlighting the ‘Our Lady of Mount Carmel’ statue that is prominently displayed on the grounds of our community. The residents are very appreciative of Bryan’s efforts.”

To move forward with the project, Boylan wrote a formal proposal that was approved by both the Boy Scout Council and the Marian Village Resident Council.  Boylan worked with Stan’s Landscaping on the project’s design.

“He raised funds to pay for all the needed equipment and planting materials,” said Bannon, adding that Boylan also organized a team of volunteers to complete the installation of the project.

Marian Village is a member of the Franciscan Communities family, which includes Franciscan Village in Lemont, Addolorata Villa in Wheeling, The Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, St. Joseph Village of Chicago and The Clare at Water Tower, both in Chicago, and St. Anthony Home in Crown Point, Ind.
