What's Been Said...
“The life-enrichment department provides us with plenty of activities – bingo, bunco tournaments, Wheel of Fortune and good movies in the game room. There’s different card playing games with pinochle and poker. You can even help your neighbor with dominos.”

Life Enrichment
What’s life enrichment like at Marian Village?
Just ask some of the residents.

Sister Teresa likes the coffee break.

"I appreciate our 'coffee break,' which is a regular time of meeting with the managers of various departments, hearing what is going on, having a chance to ask questions and share ideas."

Betty likes the variety, but her true love is bingo.

Friends in the Park"There's a variety of good entertainment planned for us. There's also game shows, weekend movies, white elephant sales, etc.," she said. "Best of all is bingo on Mondays and Fridays. That one's my favorite."

Dolly likes hanging out in the library.

"Spending time in the library doing my puzzles and reading the variety of books available is nice."

Sister Delores has so many favorite life-enrichment activities that she can't name a single favorite.

"I have several favorite activities: exercise, crafts, wellness and they are all shared with residents and staff persons."

Looking for Les? He's either active outside or in the fitness room.

"I think of exercise as a healthful pill," he said. "Consequently, time spent outside walking and in the exercise room is the most important part of the day. It's my medicine."

Kaye likes the fact that Marian Village offers something for everyone.

"The activities are geared to all levels of participation and skill."

Al likes hanging out with the fellas and cruising out to the casino.

"My favorite activities are the large campus events, men's luncheon, casino trips and the Halloween Trick or Treat for children."

Jane likes the field trips offered through scheduled transportation, which is one of the many fine amenities at Marian Village.

"They have excellent bus service that takes us shopping, to different restaurants for lunches and the casinos."

Ed feels blessed by the spiritual activities onsite.

"I can go to church everyday and do not have to leave the building."

Now, how would you like to spend your days here? You've waited a longtime for your retirement and now is the time to reward yourself with the life enriching opportunities offered at Marian Village.

As part of your independent lifestyle here you can choose from a variety of clubs, activities and events. All of our programs have been designed to enrich the quality of your life and are developed based on what our residents want and desire.

Here are just a few of the many regularly scheduled life enrichment activities and events:

Red Hat Society

This group of female Marian Village residents has a lot of fun. They meet monthly for outings and travel to various places, including restaurants, pumpkin patches, teahouses, sightseeing and shopping.

Catering Club

One Sunday per month a group of residents order carryouts from local restaurants and enjoy some of their favorite foods with one another.

Happy Hour

Our game room is the place to be on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Join us for delicious wines, ice-cold beers and snacks. Residents enjoy socializing, kicking back, playing billiards, watching sports on the TV and cutting loose for sing-a-longs.

Day Trips

Thanks to scheduled transportation – one of the many fine amenities at Marian Village – residents enjoy visits to a variety of places on a weekly basis. Grocery stores, malls, department stores, casino boats, restaurants and drug stores are all frequently visited.

Exercise Classes

Thanks to having an excellent health and fitness center onsite, residents enjoy exercising on their own and participating in one of many different exercise sessions.

  • Sitting Exercise – This class meets four times a week and is led by a resident who guides residents through morning stretches. Participants start with the upper body, enjoy a "what's in the news today?" reading and then work on their lower body.
  • Light Weight Exercise – Meeting twice weekly, residents utilize one- to two-pound weights in each hand and go through a series of exercises. Both the upper and lower body is worked on during this session.
  • Easy Yoga – The class meets two times during the week in the afternoon. This class helps you slow down your day and get refocused. The class focuses on proper breathing techniques and stretches while also strengthening muscles.

Crafts

Craft, scrapbooking and card making classes are scheduled regularly. Residents also enjoy field trips to local stores for supplies to create new crafts ideas. Many crafts are kept and others are sold at the annual Christmas Expo. Many participants in these classes donate their crafts to local shelters.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Residents who know how to knit or crochet, or those interested in learning this hobby, can join this ministry twice a month to pray and create prayer shawls. While they work on these shawls, whether in the group or in their homes, prayers are offered for the recipient. When a shawl is completed the group gathers to bless it and then sends it to the intended person. Most materials are donated to the group and there is no charge for the shawls. Shawls have been offered for the birth of a baby, weddings, healing from sickness, comfort and grief. From the response received, it is clear that there is great comfort in receiving a shawl that is filled with love and prayer.

Scripture Study

Scripture study programs are offered regularly and geared to the specific needs and interests of the participants. These studies offer residents an opportunity to explore the inspirational and historical significance of the texts.

Spiritual Life Committee

All residents, regardless of religious affiliation, are welcome to participate in this committee that plans activities such as trips to area churches and houses of worship, educational lectures and small faith sharing programs. The goal of the committee is to provide opportunities for all residents to nurture their spiritual life, their soul.

With so much to do at Marian Village the biggest question for you is probably, "How will I find the time to do so many things?"

Thanks to maintenance-free living you'll be freed up to enjoy many of these life enrichment activities. Instead of cooking, writing utility bills and mowing the lawn, you'll be able to live your life to the fullest.

Stop in for a visit today! We'd love to make you a part of our family.
